Cryogenic Air Separation Plant

Share This :

Cryogenic Air Separation Plant is a device used to extract oxygen, nitrogen and other gases from the atmosphere and separate them. It takes advantage of the characteristics of gas liquefaction at low temperatures. The following is the working principle of a low-temperature air separation unit:

Compression and Refrigeration:

Air Absorption: Absorption of air from the atmosphere, usually with pretreatment in the initial stages such as removal of impurities and moisture.

Compression: The absorbed air is sent to the compressor for compression, compressing it to a high-pressure state.

Refrigeration: Compressed air needs to be cooled to very low temperatures, usually using condensers and expansion valves to cool it to negative degrees Celsius, allowing the gas to liquefy at low temperatures.

Separation and purification:

Mineral adsorbent/membrane separator: Under low temperature conditions, oxygen, nitrogen and other gases in the air are separated through the adsorbent or membrane separator.

Separating gases: Under low temperature conditions, the boiling points of oxygen and nitrogen are quite different, making them easy to separate. Normally, oxygen liquefies, while nitrogen remains in a gaseous state.

Liquefaction and separation:

Collection of liquefied oxygen: Through the low-temperature liquefaction process, the separated oxygen is collected into a storage tank for subsequent use.

Nitrogen production: Unliquefied nitrogen is extracted and exported as another product or further processed.

Reprocessing and purification:

Further Purification: Liquefied oxygen may require further purification and refinement to meet the requirements of various uses.
Storage and transportation:

Oxygen Storage: Liquefied oxygen is stored in special tanks, usually in a cryogenic liquid state.

Transportation: Liquid oxygen is transported through pipelines or cylinders to meet the needs of industry, medical and other fields.

The low-temperature air separation unit uses the different liquefaction temperatures of oxygen and nitrogen under low-temperature conditions to separate and liquefy the gas for collection. This device is suitable for large-scale gas separation and production and is used in industrial, medical and other fields to provide high purity and large amounts of oxygen and nitrogen.
